Hi, I am Sherry Daniel. I went to Roberta Elementary School through 6th grade and then to Blue Elementary School for grades 7 through 12. I then went SOSU and graduated with a Masters degree in reading. This year will be my 40th year as a teacher. I started teaching third grade in the fall of 1978 at Blue School. I then moved to first grade for 16 years. After first grade I was moved to Reading Lab or 5 years then back to third grade for 3 years. Then I am back to reading lab. Two years ago I started coaching the 5th and 6th grade academic teams. Last year I also taught 6th grade regular reading class. This year I will be teaching 4th grade. I will be keeping my 5/6 academic teams.
People always ask me, "When are you going to retire?" I always reply, "When it stops being FUN." I truly enjoy being a school teacher.
I have a wonderful husband, Dannie. We were childhood sweethearts and he is still my sweetheart and best friend. We will celebrate our 45th anniversary in January. We have 2 fantastic children, Samantha and Andrew. Samantha has given us a fantastic Son-in-love, John , and Andrew has given is a wonderful Daughter-in-love, Lydia. They have blessed us with adorable grandchildren, Skylar, Joslyn, Tristan, Kaycee, Ashlee, Zachary, Jacob, and Corbyn. Skylar as also blessed us with 4 great grand children, Bracelyn, Kyson, Kountry, and Shaley.
My hobbies are spending time with Dannie, reading, traveling, and of course, spoiling my grandchildren. I love to watch my grandchildren play baseball and basketball. I can even enjoy watching them play football, although it is definitely not my favorite sport. Oh, there is always fishing. I have a great fishing pond right behind my house. I like to sing and play my guitar. I collect tea cups and marbles. My favorite major league baseball team is the Texas Rangers. Win or lose, they are my favorite. I also enjoy the Oklahoma City Thunder. I like to draw, oil paint, and write. I don't have much time for drawing and writing, but as my family says, "I always seem to find time to spoil those grandchildren."
